contemporary jewellery by Rose Wood

About Me

For me, jewellery is primarily an expression of the fun to be found in handling new and novel objects. This haptic engagement, combined with imaginative form and bold colour, lies at the heart of my practice.

Once the seed of an idea arrives, it's a matter of coaxing out its potential through a process of experimentation and play until something tangible and fresh begins to emerge.

The next step involves refining the designs - transforming semi-abstract forms into durable and comfortable finished pieces. This stage feels like a collaboration between myself and the materials – letting the soft nappa leather and sterling silver speak for themselves, and be shaped into forms that reflect their natural properties.

The final sculptural piece is something that synthesises complex construction with structural simplicity, always with the wearer in mind.
